چکیده

Sludge management is considered a difficult and challenging task priority of environmental policy. This study evaluates the transformation anaerobic sludge agroindustrial wastes (cow manure, mixtures) directly to compost using Eisenia fetida earthworms (vermicomposting) in relation quality; moreover, it investigates effects different compositions on vermicompost physicochemical properties. In particular, biostabilization (AS1) produced excess from wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) Patras, Greece, mixed (AS2) originating effluents laboratory co-digestion system treating an waste mixture (olive mill wastewater, cheese whey, liquid cow manure ratio 55: 40: 5 (w/w), respectively) with dung (CD) was examined. Comparing mixtures CD-AS1 CD-AS2, superior results were obtained use AS2 since increase N-P-K observed when either 10% (22%, 51.8%, 2.4%, or 15% (38.7%, 14.1%, 8.1% used. Although reduction earthworms’ growth compared 100% CD, during vermicomposting CD-AS mixtures, 410 250 mg/earthworm sustained 85% CD-15% 80% CD-20% after period 63 70 days vermicomposting, respectively.

Effect of silver nanoparticle surface coating on bioaccumulation and reproductive toxicity in earthworms (Eisenia fetida).

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of surface coating on the toxicity of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) soil. Earthworms (Eisenia fetida) were exposed to AgNO(3) and Ag NPs with similar size ranges coated with either polyvinylpyrrolidone (hydrophilic) or oleic acid (amphiphilic) during a standard sub-chronic reproduction toxicity test. No significant effects on growth or mor...

Munnoli & Bhosle: Effect of Soil and Cow Dung Proportion on Vermi-composting

Use of earthworm species to biodegrade various substrates (industrial wastes, agricultural residues, etc.) for composting has proven to be successful after initial stabilization of vermi beds. This study presents optimization of vermi beds (soil + cowdung) for culturing of earthworms (Eisenia fetida, Eudrilus eugeniae, and Megascolex megascolex.). Optimum proportion of soil + cowdung (1:3) for ...

Biochemical and genotoxic effect of triclosan on earthworms (Eisenia fetida) using contact and soil tests.

Triclosan (TCS) is a broad-spectrum bactericide that is used for a variety of antimicrobial functions. TCS is frequently detected in the terrestrial environment due to application of sewage sludge to agricultural land. In the present study, 48-h paper contact and 28-day spiked soil tests were conducted to examine the toxic effects of TCS on the antioxidative and genetic indices of earthworms (E...

Potential biochemical and genetic toxicity of triclosan as an emerging pollutant on earthworms (Eisenia fetida).

Triclosan as an important antimicrobial agent is increasingly detected in the terrestrial environment as sewage sludge and reclaimed water are applied on land, but little is known about its effect on non-target soil organisms. In this study, biochemical responses including changes in the activity of catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione-S-transferase (GST), and malondialdehyde...

Ecotoxicity of Sodium Arsenite on Eisenia Fetida

In this study, we performed ecotoxicity tests of sodium arsenite on soil invertebrate Eisenia fetida. Initially, broad range of sodium arsenite (0.1, 1, 10, 100mg/ml) was tested for mortality of E. fetida after 24 hours in filter paper test. The narrow range doses (0-1mg/ml) were further tested to determine the EC50 and LD50. The EC50 dose of sodium arsenite was considered at which 50% of earth...
